WideDSL®is a high speed DSL communication system to be deployed by operators in the telephony loop plant, in order to offer to their subscribers higher than ever bandwidth at higher distances. The first pre-commercial chip has demonstrated that OTDM has a great potential as a future communications technology offering big improvements over OFDM based systems:
- A 70% area coverage increase for high speed services. New areas reached and income increased to operators.
- A 25% higher rate for the same distance. New services available, income increased.
- 250 times less power. Reduced pollution, energy and expenses.
Last developments forecast that GCM’s technology will be able to improve those figures and achieve a 120% area c overage increase for high speed services and a 50% higher rate for the same distances, thus being the leader of broadband DSL access technologies. The product is composed by a central office device (DSLAM) in charge of routing the data flow from subscriber to the public network and back. The subscriber device (Router or modem) adapt line signals to be employed by user equipments in order to get broadband services like Internet, Video on demand, Videoconferencing, etc. The following figures explains WideDSL® concept and advantages.
